Introduction
Men's Ministry is…
Better Together
Kingdom Men Forever
My friend, Patrick Morley, asked the pastor of the church a simple question: “Bill, how many men do you have in the Men’s Ministry at your church?”
Pastor Smith responded, “Well, Pat, we have about 25 who come out for our monthly pancake breakfast!” Pat continued, “That’s great, Bill. How many men do you have attending your church now?” Bill answered, “Oh, about 100 or so.”
Then Pat asked the question that changed Pastor Bill’s whole approach to men’s ministry, “So, Bill, does that mean that you aren’t ministering to the other 75 men in your church?”
Patrick Morley knows about men’s ministry. He’s been the leading voice in equipping pastors and leaders for more effective men’s ministry for over twenty years. So, let us pay attention as well.
In other words, we certainly must minister to the men who make the effort to come to the events. They have identified themselves as men who are ready to connect—connect with each other and receive more of the Word of God for their lives.
However, we can’t stop there. Let’s embrace those men and equip them to be the connecting place for other men in the church, in their neighborhoods, and in their workplaces.
We must be determined to gather, train, and deploy the men of God!
There is just something special about God’s men working together. God has always been a Triune God—three in one, working together for our good. And we are made in His image. Walking together, working together, dreaming together, encouraging one another. We are always better together.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. —Hebrews 10:23-25
The men of God really can unite and make a difference right where we live and work today as we receive and believe the implanted Word—God’s Word communicated in a systematic and consistent way through the power of the Holy Spirit. Information is important. But revelation is the key to lasting transformation. And transformed men can accomplish God’s purpose on this earth—to see God’s Kingdom come and His will done.
Together, we really can reach the unsaved and introduce them to Jesus through our lives and our words. We can help each other hear the life-changing Word of God, and help each other find a place to advance the Kingdom of God on the earth as well. And in the process, we will all be transformed more and more into His likeness.
That’s what Kingdom Men are created to do.
For behold, the kingdom of God is within you (in your hearts) and among you (surrounding you).
